The NEW INFINITE portable CMM provides many features that make it ideal for inspection, measurement or reverse engineering on the shop floor or in the metrology lab. These features include:

Wi-Fi Wireless Connectivity
The INFINITE features integrated Wi-Fi wireless communication (WIFI 8.02.11b), the standard for wireless device connectivity, which offers speeds many times faster and longer range than other technologies such as Bluetooth. Wi-Fi connection between the arm and computer allows the operator to position the computer where it is most convenient without having to worry about PC cables (or any cables, for that matter, thanks to the Li-ION battery). For large permanent installations such as a GridLok system, Wi-Fi allows the application PC to be safely located far away from the measuring area, even in another room (Wi-Fi works through walls), while the operator can use a large plasma screen to interact with the application.

Integrated Li-ION Battery and NEW Environmentally Sealed Cover
The integrated Li-ION battery is ideal for on-site inspection or measurement when AC power is not available or where cables are a problem. Several hours of battery life are typical with continuous operation. The patent-pending environmentally sealed battery cover prevents contamination of the battery compartment and accidentally dislodging the battery.

NEW Integrated USB Digital Camera
INFINITE arms are equipped with an integrated USB digital camera with an LED light source for recording set-ups and for use with DOCS (Digital Overlay Camera System) software. DOCS software merges true tube surface data and real-life photographs of a part for unparalleled context and visualization of inspection results.

Intelligent Quick Change Probes
ROMER pioneered the concept of "Intelligent Probes" that are automatically recognized by the arm. All INFINITE arms ship with Intelligent Probes with carbon fiber shafts that can be changed without tools, in less than 10 seconds - WITHOUT re-calibrating or interrupting your inspection program. Built in probe identification informs the software package as to the type of probe installed and the program adjusts automatically. If you need to replace a tip, the probe can be easily re-calibrated in the field.

| |
Infinite Rotation
INFINITE series arms feature ROMER's patented infinite rotation of the principal axes. This allows inspection of hard-to-reach areas and avoids damaging the arm against rotational hard stops.
| |
Ultra Lightweight and Portable
Thanks to their advanced carbon fiber and aluminum construction, INFINITE arms are lightweight, typically less than 20 pounds, making them ideal for shop floor inspection, measurement and reverse engineering.
| |
Low-profile Zero-G Ergonomic Counterbalance
The integrated Zero-G counterbalance offsets the weight of the arm and probe, thereby reducing operator fatigue and allowing one-handed operation from any position. The counterbalance works equally well from any position in the arm's reach, above and below the midline, without any tendency for the arm to "flop" when used high or low. The counterbalance helps protect the arm from unintended crashes with table or part.

| |
Ergonomic Wrist Design & Built-in Mouse Mode Capability
The wrist design incorporates three flush mounted, large, tactile buttons that are widely spaced to improve operator ergonomics and productivity. The arm can also be used in "Mouse Mode", enabling interaction with the application by movement of the arm and wrist, enabling the operator to inspect and operate the computer without ever taking a hand off the arm.
| |
System Verification in the Field
Only ROMER provides a NIST-traceable calibrated length standard with its portable CMMs. This allows the operator to easily verify and document system performance to meet ISO requirement in the field.
| |
Carbon Fiber Arms
All ROMER arms are constructed of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is 25 times more thermally stable than aluminum, thereby ensuring temperature stability in real-world use, and rendering temperature compensation unnecessary. Under normal usage the carbon fiber tubes have a lifetime warranty.
| |
New Magnetic Base
INFINITE arms include the NEW magnetic base as standard equipment. This design provides exceptional rigidity and versatility.
| |
Quick Mounting
A unique quick-change mounting system requires no tools, allowing fast set-ups and providing a small footprint. The arm can be attached to many types of bases (fixed, magnetic & vacuum mount), tripods, and Brunsen stands for INFINITE flexibility of mouting.
