Wixom, Michigan, June, 2005 - The ROMER family of portable coordinate measuring machines is now available with factory-installed PC-DMIS® metrology software. ROMER portable CMMs are used worldwide by industries that need to inspect, measure or reverse-engineer work pieces on the shop floor or in the metrology lab.

PC-DMIS software is available in two configurations on ROMER portable CMMs - PC-DMIS Pro™ and PC-DMIS CAD™. The factory-installed software package includes technical support, one year of upgrades and training at designated Hexagon Metrology Precision Centers located in Nashville, Tennessee; Lake Forest, California; Elgin, Illinois; and Wixom, Michigan.

PC-DMIS Pro and PC-DMIS CAD metrology software offers an intuitive graphic user interface to give users of all skill levels access to powerful inspection routines and customizable menus. Interactive tutorials simplify common tasks and functions via a suite of wizards. One-click quick-start routines make it easy to qualify probes, generate reports, align parts, perform instant feature measurements, construct features, and preview the measuring operation. Intuitive Probe and Go^TM measurement automatically recognizes the feature type and creates an interactive on-screen representation of the part.

PC-DMIS CAD adds the ability to access 3D CAD data to create part programs, both on and off-line, complete with graphical part models. Interactive programming automatically extracts nominals during measurement, reducing measuring time. With the PC-DMIS DIRECT CAD INTERFACE^TM (DCI) option, part programs can be created directly from the native CAD model, eliminating any translation errors from the original CAD design intent. PC-DMIS offers DIRECT-CAD INTERFACE to CATIA, Unigraphics, ProEngineer, SDRC, SolidWorks, and ACIS.
