The New ROMER INFINITE 2.0

Introducing the new Infinite 2.0 portable CMM from ROMER. The Infinite 2.0 expands on the innovations of its predecessor, the ROMER INFNITE,  with a variety of new and enhanced features that expand usability and performance. INFINITE 2.0 delivers an unprecendented level of accuracy from a ROMER portable CMM, with available volumetric accuracy of just (+/-) sixteen microns.

The INFINITE 2.0 incorporates a bridge CMM-class kinematic probe joint, which takes ROMER’s automatic probe recognition feature to the next level.  A TESA multi-wire connector, the same type used on the TESAStar motorized CMM probe heads, is now incorporated into each ROMER carbon fiber probe.  Simply connect a new probe to the head, and the software will automatically recognize its type and recall the probe calibration data.  Just as on a bridge CMM, probes can be changed on the fly without re-calibrating.

Another new feature is the handy probe holster, which holds three spare probes and keeps the change key within easy reach at all times.

The new SpinGrip ushers in another major usability feature. Two infinite-rotating grips are located on the arm at the elbow and forearm, and provide low friction grip positions for better ergonomics. The SpinGrips, combined with ROMER’s exclusive “Zero-G” pneumatic counterbalance allows the CMM to literally float in the operator’s hands, even above and below centerline, to minimize operator fatigue and maximize accuracy.

The redesigned wrist is smaller and easier to use, but still incorporates three buttons for use during measuring mode, or as a three-button mouse when the arm is in mouse mode.  The wrist also includes a handy L.E.D. worklight and a digital camera for quick documentation of set-ups.

ROMER has upgraded the INFINITE 2.0's Wi-Fi connection to 802.11g, which allows for data speeds up to fifty times faster than Bluetooth, and a range up to two hundred feet, even through walls.  The Infinite 2.0's lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, combined with a  battery powered laptop means you can inspect with infinite portability for hours using no cables whatsoever.

Features that carry over from the prior generation infinite arm include:

• Universal quick-mount connection for fast mounting to tripods, brunsen stands, magnetic or vacuum bases.
